Vacation on vacation?!

Last week I got the lovely pleasure of joining my Fas on a little vaca to the Dominican Republic! Smashicles, (Ashley) was suppose to go but things came up so the opportunity got passed on to me! I found out on Monday night and peaced out early Saturday morning until the following Wednesday night. I had to beg my new manager to let me go since I'm really not allowed to leave while I'm on this internship. It ended up being that I had to get him a little gift and he'd let me go.

My very kind neighbor, Ryan, came over late Friday night to just watch movies till he had to take me to the airport, he was out in five minutes. So there I was just bored out of my mind, awkwardly listening to him snoring! Finally it was time to go but I had to still wake him, I tried like five times until he finally woke up. In between each try I'd go back into our room and just laugh to Brynn saying, "I don't know what to do, this is so awkward!!" And she would just simply laugh and fall back to sleep each time.

When I got to the airport, thinking it would take forever to get through security as usually, I grabbed my ticket and made it straight to my seat all within seven minutes, it was heaven! I sat down and tried to get comfy against the window before someone would come and sit down next to me but just with my luck, I got the whole row to myself while the rest of the plane was jam backed. Unfortunately, by the time I finally got comfy and closed my eyes the flight attendant announced we'd be landing shortly and made me sit back up. Then I had to wait to fly to the DR but had a stinkin two and a half hour lay over. I decided to lay down and get comfy and ended up falling asleep with just a few people around me doing the same. I then awoke to fifty people around me, real awkward! Especially since I might have been drooling just a wee bit.. :)
Alrighty on to the fun stuff. I finally made it there which felt like forever since I'm incapable of sleeping on planes. All I had left to do was wait for my Fas which was thirty minutes behind me so I just jumped in line with everyone else to go through customs. Unfortunately I had no service so I wasn't able to text my worried mother that I made it there safely or call my dad so I could find him. I glanced back and saw him standing towards the back of the line on his phone. I'm sitting there waving to him forever and he's just looking at me like I'm some idiot. I then yell his name and he still doesn't recognize me. He then catches on that it's me and comes over and tells me he thought I was some weirdo just waving at him.

We then traveled onto the hotel we were staying at that was absolutely beautiful! Paradisus Palma Real Resort. We were real excited to make it to our room because we were exhausted but when we finally got there, after zig zagging through their oddly lay out, we had only one bed. We then spent the next two hours trying to get a new room. Father was not too happy but it ended up all working out. As we were driving to the hotel, our tour guide handed us all out brochures showing us what we could do while we were here and dad was real excited when the first thing I said was, "Lets cross this one right on off!" It was the shopping excursion. I think at that moment he was thrilled that it was me here and not Ashley.. :) all I wanted to do was lay by the ocean and whatever else he wanted to do. At times he got a little sick of it though since I was so easy going it actually made it hard
for him to know what to do.
The one excursion we ended up going on was splendatory!! We went on a tour where we all drove dune buggies. Within the first five minutes a gigantic rain storm hit and it down poured on us for the next hour or so, the rain was crazy but I loved it!! I don't think the rest of the ladies and even most of the guys did but who cares! On our tour we got taken all over the town to see how people lived there and what their schools were like and etc. I'll explain with the pictures.

This was us all crammed in a 15 seater van, it was redonk!
Fas and I
(Everyone found my camera a little hard to use..)

These kids were adorable, they would basically just sit around waiting for
tourist to come by and give them stuff and got a little pushy at times
but they were just too cute!
They loved looking at their own pictures.
These is a guys house that he let each group everyday
come by and get a tour through his house. He wouldn't even
except money from the tour group.
This is their grocery store, what you see is the whole store.
You could only buy small amounts such as a handful of noodles at a time.
 Next few are self explanatory

Their kitchen was all outside basically, it was tiny.
 Chicken fights!!
Quite an odd picture I know but this is how they would get the chicken
mad and ready for their fight. They would blow burning alcohol right in their rear!! Notice their cute little boxing gloves tied around their feet haha
 I did not enjoy this............
They ended up fighting like right on my feet... not cool!
Please ignore the 6 side chins.........or just enjoy them, either way
After the house we went to this cave, it was gigantic!
They called it the Black Man Cave because
of this lovely statue.

I thought this picture was quite fantastic until my friend here, whose a
photographer, told me otherwise..

And now on to the horses, my favorite! Unfortunately I got a real lame horse.
Well technically they were all lame minus my fathers. All the horses bunched together and would not leave each others sides, therefore we were all rubbing legs with each other the whole walk. Then there was Dad off in the distance galloping
around like fetchin John Wayne, I was so jealous!
Next we went to one of their schools which had one classroom.
The kids, were also, so cute! They even sang to us!
I have a video of it but... too lazy :)
Fas wanted to be just like them.
But seriously, half way through the day I leaned over to him
and told him I would love living somewhere like this.
He then informed me that he didn't even enjoy it for a full day.
The last place we went on our tour was another beach but once we got
there it started to rain again so some got out to ask the tour guide if it would
be alright if we just headed back instead.
So there I was left alone in the dune buggy trying to hide from the rain and
then I see Emanuel, the camera dude, coming my way. He simply asks me how
I am and my name. I say, "19 and Lindsey" he then points to my fas and goes,
"so....is that your dad?' I tell him yes and he then gets a grin on his face and continues on with his questions such as if I wanted to join him dancing later that night and if my dad would be ok with that. He then also shares with me how beautiful my lips and eyes  are. I couldn't help but just laugh in his face right then and there!! He then brings up dancing again and I just say, "no I'm not a good dancer" he then informs me that I don't need to be good, I just need to dance. I just continued to ignore the question so he then just told me that he would call my hotel room at 9'o that night to go out dancing....  he had our room number from the receipt he just got from Fas purchasing the video he was making. Which reminds me, he was literally 5 inches away from my face with the camera every second he got,  real annoying and awkward!!

This is our lovely hotel, I maybe got in the pool for 45 seconds tops and the ocean
twice because the bathroom was real far haha too much info?!
The ocean just isn't too great without waves quite frankly!

 View from our balcony

I really liked the flamingos and Fas wouldn't
let me just take a picture of them because
apparently that's boring
I loved every moment of this trip, even when I fell asleep by the pool and fried only one side of my face and got a sweet tan line! Even though I got sick the last night and was up the whole night, it was totally worth it! Oh one last thing! Wednesday morning I woke up to what I thought was my dad shaking my bed and I was slightly bugged, I then rolled over and looked at him to realize he was thinking the same thing as me while lying in his bed. We then both laughed and realized that we were just in an earthquake!!
Thank  you so much for making this happen for me to come Fas and
for giving up your place for me Smash!!
Love you both!

  1. What a great trip! I love hearing your stories, you are very entertaining. I'm sure your Dad loved having you there with him. I could see you wanting to live there, but keep in mind, you'd have to be dancing with that guy and I'd rather have you a lot closer to home! I'm so glad you are having such great experiences/memories. You deserve it. You're a great kid and I miss you!
